
Become A Volunteer
Volunteers for the festival are being sought from all over the state, especially from Houston and surrounding areas, including employees of local businesses; librarians from public, academic, school and special libraries; high school, undergraduate and graduate students; Houston writers; and the community in general!
You must be sixteen years of age or older to volunteer for the 1st Annual Back to School Showcase Extravaganza.

Volunteer Positions
Registration and Escorts:
Volunteers are needed to assist in Hospitality and to escort Vendors and Guest to throughout the festival footprint.
Why it’s a great position
· The opportunity to meet and interact with featured Festival artist and presenters
· The chance to see multiple areas of the festival
Responsibilities
· Assist with artist, vendor and check-in and hospitality
· Escort induvial to program locations as assigned.
· Assignments as directed by the Coordinator

Children's Activity Tent:
The Children’s Activity Tent offers children's book-related activities, photo opportunities, costumed storybook characters, writing enrichment projects, and various arts and crafts.

· The opportunity to instill a love of books and reading with the festivals youngest attendees
· The chance to interact with festival attendees
Responsibilities
· Assisting in preparing supplies for crafts
· Distributing craft materials to children
· Assisting children with crafts
· Keeping area clean and organized
· Assisting with face painting (supplies will be provided)

Concessions:
Volunteers are needed to assist in selling refreshments to Festival attendees.

· The opportunity to interact with loving attendees and exhibitors
· The chance to help raise a little money for the Festival

· Selling coffee, water, and soft drinks
· Handling money
· Manage supplies
